Beginning Again...

I realize that a crazy amount of time has past since my last update but, I have finally begun a new post! Needless to say, I made it back safely from Romania and have now finished my junior year! It is really exciting but, senior year has me a little fearful :).
I have been debating whether or not to continue this blog for quite awhile and have now (obviously) decided to begin again. Right now I am in Jackson, Mississippi interning with Voice of Calvary Ministries. VOCM is an incredible ministry that is set in the city of Jackson, striving to develop community. I love it! In the short time I have been here I have seen so many, so many, ways that development here relates to what I saw in Romania - I am constantly surprised at how they correlate. Of course, being as one is state-side and one is international they are different in many ways as well.
I am not sure how to sum up the last few weeks of being here so I will just list the highlights of what I am learning.
1. I learned really quickly that I struggle being in an office all day :)
2. Race is an immense issue that continues to oppress people of this country every day. Though, it is also easy to ignore.
3. Homeless people are rarely homeless due only to their own poor judgements and mistakes
4. Loving my neighbor means more than just my physical neighbors...it also means those I live with :)
5. Most importantly - God has developed an amazing network of people already at work in Jackson and, in coming alongside them, I am learning every moment.

PEACE!

p.s. - I am also re-learning how much I love to just sit and listen to people talk....of course, I also love to talk :)
